Objections and Comments to Draft EIA Notification, 2020

The Journal of Indian Law and Society, noting it’s contribution to the development of policy instruments, submitted Objections and Comments to the Draft Enviornmental Impact Assessment Notification, 2020, to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

With the oncoming Climate Crisis, it is essential that our Enviornment is preserved, and that economic development and environmental protection are not seen as a binary, but are synchronized to a sustainable form of development. An Enviornment Impact Assessment operationalizes environmental jurisprudence at a localized project level, thus is crucial for a sustainable future.

In our analysis, we endeavoured to avoid political questions and arguments, and attempted to put forward reasoning based on Environmental Jurisprudence from the Supreme Court of India, allied disciplines of Environmental studies, Economics, and most of all, empirical data we collated from various sources.
